Jember, 10 October 2025 — The Civil Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, University of Jember, successfully held a guest lecture titled “Urban Water Resilience through Rainwater Harvesting: Lessons from Research and Practice”. The event featured Prof. Aysha Akter, M.Eng., Ph.D. from Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh, as the keynote speaker. The session was moderated by Dr. Retno Utami Agung Wiyono, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., a lecturer at the Civil Engineering Department, University of Jember.

This academic activity aimed to enhance students’ competence and broaden their understanding of urban water resilience and sustainable water resource management. Prof. Akter shared her research and practical experiences on implementing rainwater harvesting systems as an adaptive solution to climate change and urban water challenges.

The guest lecture also served as a platform for academic discussion and collaboration, aligning with the department’s vision to integrate sustainability concepts into civil engineering education. Through this event, students gained valuable insights into the role of engineering innovation in addressing global environmental issues. The activity was part of the Civil Engineering Department’s continuous effort to strengthen academic and research capacities, as well as to update the curriculum in response to future challenges in sustainable infrastructure and water management.
